Tour DWH SA 101: Cape Town and Beyond
The Fairest Cape in all the World
Magnificent 8 day / 7 night tour that takes you to the Boland Mountain Complex with the glorious Cape Winelands at its heart and to the vibrant and multi-cultural city of Cape Town where you will enjoy amongst other things the splendors of Table Mountain National Park and a visit to Robben Island declared a cultural World Heritage Site in 1999.
We first had the idea of promoting tours to UNESCO World Heritage Sites on a visit whilst in Cape Town to the beautiful Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden in the Table Mountain National Park which had been declared a World Heritage Site in 2004 as one of the eight protected areas of the Cape Floral Region.
We have since been fortunate enough to have made a number of visits both in the South African spring and at other times of the year with enthusiastic and informative South African driver guides to the remaining seven areas of the Cape Floral Region – Boland Mountain Complex, De Hoop Nature Reserve, Boosmansbos Wilderness Area, Swartberg Complex, Baviaannskloof Nature Reserve, Cederberg Wilderness Area and Groot Winterhoek – all sites well worthy of World Heritage status.
We hope that you too will now have an opportunity to visit these very special places by joining one of our small group escorted tours or by arranging a private tour for yourself.
In conjunction with our South African Tour Operator Southern Circle Tours and Safaris we offer four scheduled tours with fixed dates and private escorted tours with a wide variety of dates to Cape Town and the Cape Floral Region (Tours DWH SA 101, 102, 103 and 104).
Cape Town flanked by the Atlantic and Indian Oceans and with Table Mountain as a striking backdrop is one of the world’s most beautiful cities with a wealth of natural and cultural heritage.
Hike or take the cableway to the summit of Table Mountain. Stroll around the glorious Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden and admire the stunning views along the Atlantic Seaboard from the top of an open air bus. Learn more of the history of South Africa and its people by visiting Robben Island and exploring the city center with its wealth of first class museums.
The journey beyond Cape Town into the unique protected areas of the Cape Floral Region will for many nature lovers be the trip of a lifetime. Drive over majestic mountain passes, walk along pristine riverbanks and empty white beaches, watch birds and wildlife, and fill your lungs with fresh bracing air in wilderness areas far from the noise and pollution of so much of modern life. Visit historic towns with graceful Cape Dutch architecture, stay in often stunning locations and enjoy great food and wine. All this with the added bonus of exploring the smallest but richest of the world’s six floral kingdoms with an amazing 9,600 species of flora 70% of which are found nowhere else on Earth.
We can also arrange on request either escorted, part-escorted or self- drive tours to Cape Town and the areas of the Cape Floral Region of your choice with the option of extending your stay by going on Safari to the Addo Elephant Park or to one of the nearby luxury private game reserves in the malaria-free Eastern Cape province of South Africa.
Tour DWH SA 102: Beyond Cape Town and into the Cape Floral Region
"This Heaven on Earth ..."
Superb 9 day / 8 night fully guided tour for nature lovers that takes you to the outlying areas of the Cape Floral Region which few overseas tourists are fortunate enough to visit, including the glorious beaches of De Hoop Nature Reserve (the 'Jewel of the Cape') and the little known Groot Winterhoek with its extraordinary rock formations, one of the best kept secrets of the region.
Tour DWH SA 103: Cape Town and Beyond into the Cape Floral Region
A Kingdom of Unsurpassed Beauty
15 day / 14 night tour of a lifetime that takes you to the beautiful and vibrant city of Cape Town and all the eight unique areas of the Cape Floral Region, including the mightly passes of the Swartberg, the peace and tranquility of the Baviaanskloof Nature Reserve and starry nights in the Cederberg - all part of the most prolific floral kingdom on Earth.
Tour DWH SA 104: Cape Town and Beyond in Springtime
Whales, wildflowers and wine
This stunning 11 day /10 night tour celebrates the arrival of spring in Cape Town and the surrounding areas of the Cape Floral Region, as the southern right whales return from Antarctica to mate and calve in the De Hoop Marine Reserve and the sheltered waters of Walker Bay, and normally barren landscapes erupt into a blanket of wildflowers.
We will be adding tours later in 2013 to the other UNESCO World Heritage Sites around South Africa – iSimangaliso Wetland Park, uKhahlamba Drakensberg, Mapungabwe Cultural Landscape, Cradle of Humankind, Vredefort Dome and the Richtersveld.
